Day 4 – Wednesday 3rd
September 2014 – At Sea
I am back
into the routine of gym and sauna, followed by lemon tea on deck in the
morning. Once more we have another warm,
sunny day with flat seas, passing between the mainland of Sweden and its
largest island in the Baltic, Gotland on the starboard side.
Hemispheres
At 12.15
joined Cordelia from the entertainment team, along with pianist Simon, for the
first gathering of the guest’s choir in ‘Hemispheres’, the night club, and we
are to be known as, the Queen Victoria Vocalists. Between seventy and eighty guests turned up
for our first outing, we came away very pleased, as the singing was very strong
and wholesome.
Lido Restaurant
Along to the
Lido Restaurant for lunch, this is a very light and airy area with wonderful
panoramic views from the advantage of being on Deck 9. A stroll around the shops after lunch; did
not induce me to buy, but the weather incited me to the open deck 3 with a
book. On a lounger in the sunshine, it was not long before, the open book was
on my chest, and I was asleep.
Princess Grill Aft
Our Table 101
Second
formal night and all polished for pre-dinner drinks in the Princess Grill; here
we met Graham and Violet from just over the border near Kelso in Scotland. They were engrossed and worried about the
forthcoming independence election in Scotland, and hoping for a favourable
outcome.
Grill Overview
Dinner in
the Princess Grill was again sumptuous with crabmeat, then a veal chop which
was huge, afterwards the head waiter, behind my back, set fire to my sweet (all
too much for me).
In the theatre,
entertained by vocalist Jacinta Whyte, who is normally a leading lady in the
West End or Broadway musicals. Her
repertoire was vast and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
In the
Queens Room Ballroom, it was the Masquerade Ball, a number were prepared for
this one, and were in many disguises.
The one that intrigued me was a gentleman with a black mask, who did not
look like the lone ranger, but whose mask looked more like, goggles on a deep
sea diver.
After
another fulfilling day, midnight is time for bed, as arriving in our first port
of call in the morning.
